World Changers

July 17th - 23rd, 2011

WHAT IS WORLD CHANGERS?

World Changers is a coeducational missions experience combining mission education and missions involvement and is sponsored by the North American Mission Board (NAMB) of the Southern Baptist Convention. Students learn missions firsthand by becoming personally involved in meeting needs of people. World Changers stresses hands-on involvement of students through their participation in a variety of community ministries and home construction and renovation work. Projects are located in high-need, low-income communities where people live at or below the United States poverty level.

WORLD CHANGERS HISTORY

From the inception of World Changers in the summer of 1990 in Briceville, Tennessee. To date, more than 200,000 students have blessed the lives of others while receiving an even greater blessing themselves. With the support of caring adults, these students have dramatically altered the living conditions of more than 7,700 homes in the past eight years alone.

While toil and sweat are the order of the day, improved living conditions and offerings are tangible results of benevolent people, but a more lasting reminder is that more than 1,321 people made decisions for Jesus Christ this past summer.  There were 225 commitments to summer or semester missions and 183 commitments to vocational ministries.

As you can see, World Changers is moving onward and upward, and with your continued help, the sky is the limit for our organization.    The challenge is for participants to recognize that God can use them in a short-term project and also in a lifestyle of missions and ministry beyond this week.  We pray that our work at each site gives us a clearer view of Jesus.

CREW CHIEF's: A crew chief is someone who can bring
construction skills and experience to a World Changers
project. Crew chiefs are assigned a particular work
site and will train and coordinate the work of a crew
of 10-12 participants. Participants range in age from
junior high to college.

SUPERVISOR's: A supervisor is a volunteer who assists
the construction coordinator at the project in work
site selection and oversees the actual work of
approximately five crew chiefs and their work sites. Supervisors are chosen by the construction coordinator
who reviews applications.

RUNNER's: A runner is a volunteer who assists the
construction coordinator and supervisors in delivering
materials and tools during the project.
